Displaced resident returns home to collect “things” — killed by artillery attack

HURFOM: On May 19th, 2025, a resident from Kyone Doe Town, Kaw Ka Rate Township, Karen State was killed by an artillery attack while he was returning home from a displaced camp to collect “things” at his home.
The victim was a schoolteacher who was involved in the CDM = Civil Disobedience Movement and lived at Ward #4 in Kyone Doe Town. While collecting personal belongings at his home, an artillery shell launched by the 546th artillery regiment exploded near the house. He was hit by debris and killed at the spot.
“He was about to leave his house but a big artillery shell dropped and he was hit by the artillery debris. He was killed on the spot. His family members are at the displaced camp. We’ve already informed them about the death,” said a local source.
Tension persists in Kyone Doe Town and there has been an exchange of artillery attacks between the 545th and 546th Light Infantry Battalions and joint revolutionary armed groups.
During the second week of May, artillery shells exploded in Ward #1 and Ward #3 of Kyone Doe Town that injured innocent civilians.
From the second week of April to May 19th, 2025, at least 20 civilians in Kyone Doe Town have been killed by the junta’s air assaults, drone attacks and artillery attacks.
