November 20, 2024

HURFOM: In the first week of November, 2024, the military junta arrested six young men from Oak Tan Dar village, Paung Township, Mon State after accusing them of being members of the People’s Defense Force (PDF). Then, on November 5th, 2024, the junta sealed and seized all six of their homes.

A combined team of more than 30 soldiers and police claimed the owners of the houses were related to terrorism and sealed the houses.

They said the young men were the PDF so they sealed and seized the houses. They gave the owners one week to move out. Now, all of them are in trouble,” said a source close to the families.

About 30 people from seven households have to find a temporary stay at their relatives’ houses or the village monastery.

The house owners are Daw Than Oo, U Aung Kyaw Moe, U Kyaw Swar, U Sein Thaung, U Phoe Pyaw and U Sa Oo.

Nearly 10,000 houses across Burma have been sealed and seized since February 1, 2001. Most are owned by pro-democracy activists.
