Junta’s artillery attack kills elderly man in Kaw Ka Rate

HURFOM: On November 18th, 2024, even there was no active armed clash in nearby area, the military junta had launched indiscriminate artillery attacks to Myouk Kyar Inn village, Kaw Ka Rate Township, Karen State and killed 71-year-old elderly man, according to the statement by the Karen Human Rights Group (KHRG).

The 545th artillery regiment based in Line Wa village, Kaw Ka Rate Township recklessly launched four 120-mm artillery attack to the village and the artillery shells dropped and exploded nearby the village.

He lost his hearing so he didn’t hear the sound of artillery attacks. He made his living on grazing cattle in the village,” said a Kaw Ka Rate resident.

The artillery attacks and explosion have forced many local villagers to flee home, reported the KHRG.

Also in December, 2023, the 545th artillery regiment launched reckless indiscriminate artillery attacks to Myouk Kyar Inn and Taung Kyar Inn village, Kaw Ka Rate Township.
