Two men from Kan Bauk, arrested but still not released

HURFOM: On November 12th, 2024, two young men from Tin Gan Taw village, Kan Bauk region, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division were arrested by the military junta after being accused of having connection with the People’s Defense Force.

28-year-old Ko Nine and 24-year-old Ko San Lwin Aung were traveling by car from Maw Gyi village to Tin Gan Taw.  They were stopped by the junta’s forces at Sin Gu village.

They’re working at a rubber plantation in Maw Gyi. They came back to their village after celebrating “Kan Htein”, a religious event and encountered the junta’s forces. They accused them of being PDF members and arrested them,” said a Tin Gan Taw resident.

Both men have not been released yet as of November 18th, and Ko San Lwin Aung has not been able to meet with his family members.

Both have been detained at the artillery regiment in Sin Gu village. Ko Nine is able to meet his family members but Ko San Lwin Aung has not been allowed to meet his family,” said a local source.

On November 11th, 2024, the Mawrawaddy Navy Command arrested Ko Pyae Phyo Pine, Ko Htet Wai Lin and another man from Hle Gone Ward, Kan Bauk village. Someone from Min Thar village accused them of having weapons at their houses and having connections with the PDF.

Local sources told HURFOM that the four villagers who were arrested were released on November 14th.

Mawrawaddy Navy Command has arrested nearly 30 residents in Kan Bauk region, Yebyu Township.
