Junta kills local man for not stopping motorbike in Long Lone

HURFOM: On October 31st, 2024, 40-year-old U Kyaw Khine from Ka Boo village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division junta’s troops stationed at the security gate in front of the immigration office in Long Lone Town, signaled motorcycle riders to stop for inspections.
A local resident reported to HURFOM, that U Kyaw Khine did not stop his motorbike. Soldiers claimed he was attempting to run away to avoid the security check, and they shot and killed him.
“When the soldiers saw him, they came out to stop him. But he drove away and also ran over the barricades at the security gate. When he reached an old restaurant near the gate, he was shot and killed,” said the resident.
Junta’s troops then phoned a local rescue and emergency team to pick up the dead body.
“His body was placed at the Long Lone cemetery. But the military gave a call and ordered his body to the mortuary of the Dawei Hospital,” said another resident.
In November, 2022, junta’s troops conducting a “stop and check” operation near the Long Lone General Hospital also shot and killed a 14-year-old boy and a 20-year-old young man.
