HURFOM: At about 8 pm on August 8th, 2024, junta security forces were conducting “stop and checks” near the “Shwe Sar Yan” Pagoda, Thato City, Mon State, and a young man riding on a motorbike made a U-turn as he did not want to be checked by the forces.
The junta troops shot the man and he crashed into another motorbike which was on the opposite site of the road. The motorbike rider fell under a truck and died on the scene.
“He rode along “Bali” Road. As he saw “stop and check” near “Pagoda Roundabout”, he made a U-turn and then, he was shot. He crashed into another motorbike and was blown away under a truck,” said a Thaton resident.
The deceased young man was from Gog village, Thaton Township and a 20-year-old man whom he crashed into sustained an injury. He has been receiving treatment in the Thaton District General Hospital.
Junta security forces have been conducting “stop and checks” in crowded areas and road junctions and issued an order banning two men from riding the same motorbike.
