August 7, 2024
HURFOM: Since the end of July, 2024, the military junta have been examining household list documents in Maw Ka Nin village, Ye Township, Mon State. They have also been taking photos of young men during the check, according to local residents.
The junta has been conducting door-to-door checks in Car Sake and Kaw Swell Ward, Maw Ka Nin village at 5 pm every day.
During the check, if they find there is a young man 18 years old and above, they call him to have his photo taken, a local youth reported HURFOM.
“They’ve started checking at 5 pm every day. They check every house. They’ve done checking at Car Sake Ward and now, they are checking in Kaw Swell Ward. If they find young men 18 years of age or above, they take a photo record of them. We asked “why do you take photos?” and they replied “we have to keep records” but we don’t understand which kind of record,” said a young lady from Kaw Swell Ward.
Village Administrators of some villages in Ye Township issued an order that every household must send their household list documents together with their house number, to the Administrator’s office. But they have not revealed the reason for their request so no one has sent their documents as of today, according to a local from Lamien Sub-township.
“They do not say clearly why they need a household list document. They also force us to give our house number. So people are worrying a lot. No one has sent their documents as of today. Everyone waits and sees,” said a local villager.
