Junta arrests couple in Kan Bauk

HURFOM: On February 28th, 2024, a couple from Kan Bauk village, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division were arrested by the military junta at their home.

Local sources told HURFOM, the junta accused 40-year-old U Ko Nine and his wife, from Hlell Ku Ward of transporting ‘materials’ for the People’s Defense Forces.

U Ko Nine is a driver with the PTT Company in Nat Eain Taung. The junta secretly arrested the couple at night,” said a Kan Bauk resident.

U Ko Nine’s wife Daw May Day is a vendor and they have been detained at the Mawrawaddy Navy Command based in Kan Bauk.

The junta has made many arrests in Kan Bauk.  Six residents were already arrested in February, 2024. At least 24 residents were arrested from December, 2023 to February, 2024. To date, only 14 individuals have been released.
