Junta attacks Long Lone City forcing residents to flee home

HURFOM: Since January 31st, 2024, the military junta has been targeting Long Lone City, Tenasserim Division with indiscriminate artillery attacks, forcing many residents to flee their homes.
The military junta battled with the People’s Defense Force on January 30th, 2024. Following the battle, the military junta launched artillery attacks on the city, at night from January 31st to February 4th.
“After the battle, the junta launched an artillery attack every night or every two nights. Many residents could not stay at their homes so they went to nearby monasteries to sleep,” said a Long Lone resident.
Three residents including a child were injured and three houses were damaged during the battle.
“Now, we worry about when artillery shells will hit our houses, or when our lives could be harmed. Even though there is no active battle, the residents are still staying at the monasteries,” said a displaced woman.
After the downtown battle, the military junta tightened security at check-points in the city and began patrolling the city at night, according to local residents.
