Junta restricts movement in Southern Ye Township

HURFOM: According to the residents, the 31st Light Infantry Battalion(LIB) based in Khaw Za Town, Southern Ye Township, Mon State has warned villagers not to go to or stay at their rubber, durian and betel nut plantations.
“The 31st LIB announced over a loudspeaker at around noon today, telling us not to stay or work at our plantations. They shouted “Get out of the farm as soon as possible and go home”,” said a Khaw Za resident.
Villagers were not provided any reason to leave their plantations but are worried.
On June 16, 2023, the junta’s military launched artillery attacks hitting a house in Kyauk Eye village, Khaw Za Sub-township; the resulting explosion killed one woman.
