HURFOM: On May 14th, 2025, more than 190 villagers from Karn Ni village, near Kyone Doe Town, Kaw Ka Rate Township, Karen State returned home, according to a social worker who helps the displaced.
Villagers fled due to the junta’s air assaults on April 17th. The junta’s air assault killed six villagers and injured 17 other residents from Karn Ni village.
“We’ve only known the displaced villagers who took shelter in the monastery. They said they wanted to go back home and we helped them. I don’t know if the displaced villagers in the mountains and forests, at their relatives’ houses and rented houses return home or not,” said the social worker.

Currently, there has been no military advance or armed clash in Karn Ni village but sometimes, there has been an artillery attack.
“The villagers said they heard the sound of artillery gunfire last night. The village isn’t safe but the displaced villagers said they wanted to go back home, so we helped them. We don’t have other options,” continued the social worker.
The April 17 armed clash forced nearly 1,500 residents from Karn Ni, Tha Yet Taw, Kaw Kyike, Kaw Khite, Ta Dar Oo, Kaw Baw and nearby villages to flee their homes.
