Junta’s air assaults torch more than 30 houses in Tenasserim

HURFOM: On February 17^th, 2025, the military junta launched air assaults on Nyaung Pin Kwin Ah Shay Karn village, Tenasserim Township, Tenasserim Division destroying, by fire, 35 buildings including houses and a library.

There had been an intense battle between the junta and the joint resistance forces in the village which led the junta’s air force to drop nearly 20 bombs to help their troops. The bombs exploded near a school in the village.

“The junta launched air assaults twice. The armed clash was intense and they launched an air assault to help their troops. More than 30 houses were destroyed and burnt down. The number can be more,” said a social worker who helps displaced villagers.

Residents have been trying to stop the fire in the village, and an official from the “Nwe Oo Mitta” organization for displaced communities said they are still determining the exact number of civilian casualties and damaged houses.

“The situation in Nyaung Pin Kwin is an emergency crisis. We’re trying to know the exact number of casualties and losses,” said the official.

The joint revolutionary forces also used drones in the battle and villagers reported to HURFOM that the military junta was torching houses in Tone Ma Khar village.

On February 22^nd, 2025, the junta launched as many as 4 air attacks on Thane Khum villages and the amount of damages and losses are still being investigated.
