5,500 added to number of newly displaced villagers in Tanintharyi

HURFOM: According to the FE5 Tanintharyi, in May, 2025, the number of displaced villagers increased by 5,500 in Tenasserim Division, due to the junta’s air assaults, artillery and drone attacks.

In April, 2025 the number was 76,300 and by the end of May the total increased to 81,800 displaced villagers.

Villagers are struggling to find shelter in the rainy season. Many are suffering from malaria, dengue fever, diarrhea, respiratory and skin diseases, and there is not enough medicine nor access to health care.

The junta’s security gates in Dawei Eastern Forest area, Tha Yet Chaung, Taung Pyout, Tenasserim and Pu Law Township have limited the transportation of food and medicine into the area. Fishing, livestock management, farming and construction industries have stopped due to frequent armed clashes, leaving residents without means to any livelihood.

FE5 Tanintharyi, reported that In May, 2025, the junta’s troops advanced into the Dawei Deep Seaport Area and killed 13 local villagers and torched two houses.
