Junta’s artillery attack kills child in Pa La: 3rd killing from indiscriminate attacks

HURFOM: On August 18th, 2024, a junta’s regiment stationed at the Pa La Police Station, Pu Law Township, Tenasserim Division launched a discriminate artillery attack even though there had been no armed clashes in the area. Locals reported to HURFOM that the artillery attack killed a child.
The artillery shells dropped and exploded at Tan Shin village, Toe Shay village tract and the debris from the explosion killed a six-year-old child.
“The artillery shell dropped beside the house. The artillery debris penetrated the neck of the child,” said a local villager.
The injured child died in the morning of August 19th while receiving treatment. A 20-year-old young man was also killed on August 5th and a female vendor on July 28.
The regiment stationed in the Pa La Police Station has routinely launched indiscriminate artillery attacks on Pa La Town and nearby villages forcing residents near the station to flee their homes.
