Junta’s artillery attack kills newborn infant and injures five residents in Kaw Ka Rate

HURFOM: On August 9th, 2024, the military junta’s “Swel Taw Gone” regiment targeted Htee Muu Hto village, Kaw Ka Rate Township, Karen State with artillery attack even though there had been no armed clash in the area. The attack killed a newborn infant and injured five other residents, according to the central Karen National Union.

The injured victims are a four-year-old child and a five-year-old child, two women and a man.

Also from August 5th to 7th, the 73rd and the 307th light infantry battalions launched artillery and drone attacks that killed a 66-year-old woman and injured three other local women.

During the first six months of 2024, junta artillery attacks have killed 134 residents and injured more than 400 local villagers who live in “Kaw Thu Lay” Administrative Area of the Karen National Union, according to the statement by the KNU.
