Junta launches operations again in Dawei Economic Zone: Torch houses and arrests villagers

HURFOM: On October 9, 2023, the military junta launched an operation in Pu Gaw Zun and La Line villages, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division and torched three houses.
On October 20, the military unit entered Muu Duu village nearby Dawei Special Economic Zone, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division and torched another 16 houses.
“We saw lots of smoke coming from Muu Duu village at 7 am. The smoke came from multiple places,” said a resident from a nearby village.
On October 22, the military unit arrested four villagers from Ma Yin Gyi village and seven villagers from Lel Shaung village. They released four Ma Yin Gyi residents but detained seven Lel Shaung residents, according to local sources.
On the same day, the military unit entered Ba War village and broke into ten houses and destroyed them.
“The military unit is still in Ba War village,” said a local villager.
Due to repeated incursions by the military junta, thousands of villagers from Muu Duu, Ya Line, Pu Gaw Zun, Wet Chaung, Kha Maung Chaung, A Ka Ne, Ya Ngae, Wa Zun Taw, Pain Shaung, Daung Shaung and Sin Pu Hnit villages have had to flee their homes,
