HURFOM: Beginning April 29th, 2025, a military regiment consisting of more than 200 troops advanced into Htee Khee village, Dawei East Forest area, Dawei Township, Tenasserim. The military advance forced about 2,500 residents from Tha Yet Ngote, Tin Gan Tone, Wa Gone and nearby villages to flee their homes.
“The army hasn’t done anything yet but we have seen that armed clashes will break out after their advance. That’s why we ran away. The displaced villagers are hiding in different places,” said one social worker.
The social worker said if the displaced villagers are unable to return home in a short time, they will have problems finding food and medicine.

“There are fewer problems if they can return home in a short time but if the displacement prolongs, they will urgently need food and medicine,” said the social worker.
Currently, the junta’s troops are preventing displaced villagers from returning home.
On April 20th, 2025, the junta launched artillery and air assaults on the Dawei East Forest area, forcing more than 1,000 residents from Mitta Town and Htee Khee, Taung Tone Lone, and Kyauk Mell Taung villages to flee their homes.
