Junta’s air assault targets monastery in Bilin: Two monks injured

HURFOM: At about 3 pm on May 4th, 2025, the military junta launched an air assault on the “Thar That Loot” monastery in Mi Chaung Eye village, Bilin Township, Mon State.  There have been no active armed clashes in the nearby area.

The air assault damaged religious buildings and injured two senior monks.

The aircraft dropped bombs at about 3 pm. The monastery was damaged and two senior monks were injured by the attack. There was no other damage to the residential area,” said a resident.

The local villagers said the junta received exact information that the members of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) were active around the monastery and launched the air assault on the monastery.

There was no armed clash at that time. The army was informed that the PDF were around the monastery and they dropped bombs by the aircraft,” said a villager.

The telecommunication networks were temporarily cut off before the air assault and the villagers were unable to share information about military movements.
