March 14, 2025

HURFOM: Since March 5th, 2025, approximately 100 troops with the military junta have been setting up a temporary or mobile check-point on the Myeik – Tenasserim Road near Tenasserim Town, Tenasserim Division.  They are conducting a “stop and check” of motorbikes and vehicles.

At noon on March 10th, junta’s troops arrested 20 travelers and villagers and took them to a house in Ban La Mut village. The troops also seized a truck that was transporting unspecified “items” from Myeik.

A military truck stopped on the road and soldiers came out from the truck. Then, they arrested travelers and villagers and pointed guns at them and yelled at them. All men and women had to put their arms on their head and were taken away by the soldiers,” said a witness.

Those arrested included Ban La Mut villagers and travelers and on March 11th, they were taken to the 557th Light Infantry Battalion based in Out King village.

Currently, we do not know the condition of those arrested. We also don’t know the exact reason for their arrest,” said a resident.

The establishment of the temporary check-point in Ban La Mut village caused some villagers from Ban La Mut, Tone Nwe, Pa Nut Nage and other nearby villages to flee.
