Artillery attack injures three including monk in Long Lone Town

HURFOM: In the morning of March 8th, 2024, the People’s Defense Forces attacked the Office of Special Branch, the General Administration Department and the Town Police Station in Long Lone Town, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division.

The military battalion in Dawei and a navy ship responded with artillery attacks. The artillery shells exploded on Thiri Mingalar Street, (A) Ward, Long Lone Town.

The explosions injured Monk U R La War, 53-year-old Ko Myo Oo and 80-year-old Daw Htwe Kyi. All of them are receiving treatment at the Dawei Hospital.

Ko Myo Oo sustained an injury to his abdomen. Daw Htwe Kyi injured her arm. The monk has sustained injuries to both legs, and his chest and abdomen. His injuries are serious and he has to have an operation. We’ve also heard that they will have to amputate his leg,” said a Long Lone resident.

The artillery explosions also destroyed a house and half of a monastery.

After the attack, the military junta had blocked the “Ka Myaw Kin Bridge” which is located between Dawei and Long Lone.
