Junta burns down other 50 houses in Ah Nan Kwin

HURFOM: There has been an intense and constant battle between the military junta and the joint forces of the Karen National Liberation Army in Ah Nan Kwin village which is located beside Three Pagoda Pass – Thanbyuzayat Motorway, Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State and the armed conflict has forced the entire population of the village to flee home.
The junta has launched artillery and air assaults during the battle and the attacks have already destroyed and brunt down more than 400 houses in the village.
Again, from January 29th to February 6th, 2025, the junta’s troops had burnt down other 50 houses in the village and nearly entire village have been burnt down to ash, according to local villagers.
“The villagers have to run away since the start of the conflict. None of them dare to return the village. The junta’s soldiers entered the village and intentionally burnt down the unoccupied houses,” said a displaced villager from Ah Nan Kwin.

The local villagers said the military junta had sent troops, food and weapons to the Ah Nan Kwin military strategic base to strengthen their reinforcement.
“The junta already burnt down half of the village at the start of the conflict. Now, they’re burning down the houses again. The entire village will be burnt down soon,” said a local source.
According to data collected by HURFOM, since August 19th, 2024, approximately 500 houses in Ah Nan Kwin village have been burnt down and destroyed by the junta’s artillery and air assaults.
The military tension has persisted in Ah Nan Kwin village and the residents from ten nearby villages have to flee home. The displaced villagers are unable to return home as of today.
