Junta’s air strike injures two villagers in Dawei

HURFOM: At about 11 am on January 7th, 2025, the military junta targeted Kun Chaung Gyi village, Ban Chaung region, Dawei Township, Tenasserim Division with an air assault even though there was no active armed clash in the area. The air strike injured two villagers.

The bombs exploded near a football field in Kun Chaung Gyi village and injured a 30-year-old man and woman. Nearby houses were also damaged.

The junta’s air strike forced villagers to flee their homes.

There was no armed clash in Ban Chaung. The junta intentionally targeted the civilians. They want to create more fear in the community. Now, the villagers have to take shelter at nearby internally displaced persons (IDPs) camps,” said one villager.

In December, 2024, the military junta also launched air assaults on Kyauk Mee Chaung village, Long Lone Township, Dawei District, Tenasserim Division.
