Junta’s troops launch military operation in Long Lone that kills local woman

HURFOM: On December 13th, 2024, military junta’s troops launched an operation targeting villages in Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division. Junta forces shot and killed a woman and arrested two men.
After leaving Thar Yar Gone and Thel Pone Taung villages, the regiment consisting of about 100 troops stationed themselves at “Myin Tone Myin” pagoda in Min Yat village on December 12th. On the morning of December 13th, the regiment launched a military operation targeting Min Yat, Yar Hong Wa, Pan Da Lell and Inn Zought villages.
Two residents from Min Yat and Thar Yar Gone villages were arrested and a woman from Inn Zought village was killed.
“They started launching indiscriminate artillery attacks in the morning. The body of the woman was found beside the road. But no one dared to intervene because of the presence of the regiment,” said a Min Yat resident.
The woman killed by the junta’s troops is 50-year-old Daw Nwe Than.
On December 14th, the regiment left Inn Zought for Dawei City where they released the two arrested villagers.
Since November 21st, 2024, the junta’s military operations in Long Lone and Yebyu Townships have been sustained for more than ten days. During this time, they shot and killed two construction workers – U Kyi Win and Ko Naung Naung.
