Junta arrests and kills former village administrator

HURFOM: On December 1st, 2024, the military junta arrested a former village administrator and five of his co-workers in 7-mile village, Kaw Thaung Township, Tenasserim Division. the arrests took place at their homes.
The six arrested men were detained at a military strategic base in 6-mile village. On December 4th, the junta sent back the dead body of the former administrator to his family members.
“His body was sent to his family three days after his arrest. The body had bruises and injuries. The remains were cremated on December 5th,” said a local source.
The junta accused the former administrator of hiding bullets under a bath mat, and was the reason for his arrest.
“It’s impossible to find bullets at his place,” said a source who prefers to remain anonymous.
On December 1st, the junta arrested U Than Oo, the former administrator of 10-mile village track after accusing him of posting about “politics” on his social media account. He has been detained at the Kaw Thaung military strategic base since his arrest.
On December 4th, the junta’s forces arrested 40-year-old Daw Khine Khine War at her home in 14-mile village.
“She was arrested for allegedly having connections with the recently-arrested administrators,” said a local man.
Currently all of the arrested villagers have been moved from the Kaw Thaung military strategic base and are being detained at the police station in 2-mile village.
