Junta arrest young man: Forces joining military training

HURFOM: At about 6 pm on December 5th, 2024, junta’s police forces at the Than Lwin Bridge (Mawlamyine) security gate arrested 24-year-old Maung Aung Soe, from Mottama village, Paung Township, Mon State.
The police accused him of driving a motorbike while drunk and arrested him. He has been forced into military training for conscripts.
“The police said he couldn’t ride his motorbike well and arrested him. He returned home after having a drink with his friends. Now, he has been sent to a camp for conscripts in Mawlamyine,” said a local source.
The family members of Maung Aung Soe are military supporters and his father himself is a member of a local militia group.
At least 1,600 residents across Mon State have been conscripted and undergone military training. Now, the junta is arresting young men and forcing them to be part of the eight batch of military conscripts.
On November 19th, 2024, the junta arrested more than 20 young men from Paung Township after accusing them of breaching a local order and forced them into military training.
