HURFOM: On October 25th, 2024, the military junta dropped two 500-pound bombs on Win Ye (Kyarinnseikyi) Township, Du Palar Yar District, Karen State. There has been no active armed clash, but the area is under the control of the Karen National Union – KNU.
The bomb killed 30-year-old Saw Thel Mu and injured 33-year-old Naw Ell Tar Mu, according to the KNU.
“Before dropping the bombs, military aircraft were patrolling at about 11 am. The junta has routinely targeted this area with both air and artillery attacks every day. Now, they’ve intentionally launched the attack even though there has not been any armed clash,” said a local source.
A church and two houses were also destroyed by the air assault.
The Karen National Liberation Army has been attacking the Ah Nan Kwin military strategic base in Win Ye (Kyarinnseikyi) Township and since October 13th, the junta responded with constant and indiscriminate air and artillery attacks to residential areas.
The junta’s indiscriminate attacks have killed and injured innocent civilians and damaged and destroyed houses, buildings, clinics and hospitals, schools, churches and religious buildings, stated the Karen National Union (Central).
