Junta’s artillery attack kills a child and a local man in Kyarinnseikyi

HURFOM: On October 12th, 2024, the 284th light infantry battalion targeted Kya Khat Chaung village, Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State with indiscriminate artillery attacks even without having any active armed clash in nearby area and the attack killed a ten-year-old child and a local man.
The junta regiment launched four artillery attacks and one of the artillery shells dropped and exploded on a house in Kya Khat Chaung village. The explosion injured ten-year-old Naw Ake Khu, 13-year-old Gay Law Ell, 17-year-old Ma Hla Tun and 64-year-old U Pan Myine.
“The four injured villagers were sent to the Kyarinnseikyi Hospital at the same night. But Naw Ake Khu and U Pan Myine had serious injuries and died in the morning of the next day (October 13th),” said a local source.
Ma Hla Tun is still receiving treatment at the Kyarinnseikyi Hospital but Gay Law Ell have to be transferred to the Mawlamyine General Hospital as his injury is getting worse.
The local villagers reported HURFOM that since October 2nd, 2024, the 283rd and the 284th light infantry battalions have been launching indiscriminate artillery attacks to nearby areas almost every day.
