Junta arrests another local young woman in Ye

HURFOM: On October 8th, 2024, the military junta has arrested an 18-year-old young lady Ma Mon Mon from Ward 6, Chaung Taung village, Ye Township, Mon State after accusing her of having contact with the People Defense Force.
The local villagers reported HURFOM that the young lady had vanished without a trace after the arrest.
“We have no information about her after the arrest. We’ve worried that she would be tortured and the junta would arrest other residents,” said a local villager.
At the moment, the junta has been conducting a thorough search in the wards in Chaung Taung village.
“The situation in the village isn’t good now. The soldiers are conducting a search. I’ve known that local villagers were arrested but I don’t know who they are,” said a Chaung Taung resident.
In September, 2024, the military junta had arrested six residents from Chaung Taung village under the similar accusation.
