HURFOM: On October 5th, 2024, the 81st Light Infantry Battalion based in Zar Tha Pyin village, Karen State used drones to drop bombs on Kyune Kone village, Ta Ra Nar village tract, Kyikemayaw Township, Mon State.  There has been no active armed clash in the area to warrant the drone attacks.

Two bombs exploded on the house of Daw Mon Lay and injured 40-year-old Daw Mon Lay, her 11-year-old daughter Ma Moe Myint San and three-year-old son Maung Hein Chit.

Even though there is no active armed clash, the junta uses drones to drop bombs in the village because they assume resistance forces are active in the area,” said a Kyune Kone resident.

The injured family members have been receiving treatment, and most villagers have fled their home.

According to villagers, junta troops have stationed themselves in the village alongside the Gyaing River and launched artillery attacks; used drones to drop bombs and are conducting patrols by military aircraft.

According to the data collected by HURFOM, junta artillery attacks killed 53 civilians and injured 125 residents in Mon, Karen and Tenasserim areas.  Most of the victims are women and children.
