Cyclone Devastates Ah Nin Village, Destroying 150 Houses and Injuring Three Villagers

HURFOM: At approximately 3 pm on July 26, 2024, a devastating cyclone swept through Ah Nin village in Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State, destroying 150 houses and injuring three villagers.

“Many houses in the highland were damaged. Some lost their roofs, while others completely collapsed. According to our records, there have been 149 damaged houses,” said a resident of Ah Nin.

Three villagers sustained injuries during the cyclone, including an adult man who suffered a severe leg fracture.

A local source reported, “His leg is totally broken. He has been sent to Mawlamyine Hospital.”

All three injured villagers were transported to Mawlamyine General Hospital with the help of local rescue teams.

Currently, the villagers who have lost their homes are taking temporary shelter with their relatives.

Local emergency providers urgently call upon donors and emergency response teams, particularly those linked with UN agencies inside Myanmar, to provide immediate assistance. The people of Myanmar are enduring immense hardships due to the combined impacts of man-made crises, such as military coups, and natural disasters like floods and cyclones. The support is crucial in helping the affected villagers rebuild their lives and recover from this disaster.
