Junta’s indiscriminate artillery attack injures four family members including two children

HURFOM: On June 27th, 2024, the 317th artillery regiment based in Hnit Ka Yin village, Ye Township, Mon State had launched an indiscriminate artillery attack despite there being no active armed clashes. The attack injured four family members including two children.
The two children who are under ten years old and other two family members are from Bu Tar Ward. The attack also damaged at least three houses.
“Two children sustained injuries to their hands. One of the children lost his/her finger due to the explosion. The other two sustained injuries to their thighs. They had minor injuries. They were sent to hospital and they were discharged on the same day,” said an official from Hnit Ka Yin Social and Rescue Team.
On June 5th, the 106th Light Infantry Battalion based in Maw Ka Nin village also launched an indiscriminate artillery attack that injured three children and two family members from Kar Sate Ward.
“We’re living here with many risks. We live in fear. The junta’ artillery shells drop and explode on our farm very frequently. The explosion even shook our houses. We’re praying that the artillery shell doesn’t fall onto our house,” said a woman from Maw Ka Nin (new) village.
Since the last week of June, 2024, there have been armed clashes between the Maw Ka Nin 106th battalion and the joint resistance forces.
