Junta’s soldiers steal valuable from houses of displaced villagers
April 26, 2024
HURFOM: The local villagers from Ta Ra Nar village, Kyikemayaw Township, Mon State reported that junta soldiers stole food and valuables from their houses, which were then taken away by truck.
Due to air and artillery attacks, residents from seven villages in the township fled their homes, and have been displaced since the last week of March, 2024.
“A few villagers remain in the village to guard their houses. But they dare not stay in the village during the day time. They’ve just come back at night to check their houses. The junta’s soldiers have stolen food, motorbikes and other valuable things left at houses and had taken them away using a twelve-wheel truck,” said a Ta Ra Nar villager.
On April 9th, 2024, the military junta launched an air assault on Ta Ra Nar village and damaged houses and buildings.
“The soldiers are patrolling the village every day so no one dares to return to the village. Only one man per house is left in the village to guard their houses. But they are only there at night. We have to leave our motorbikes at home and they’ve stolen them,” said a displaced person from Ta Ra Nar village.
Despite no active armed clashes at the moment, the military junta targeted Ta Ra Nar, Kaw That, Kaw Zwell, Than Ga Long, Dhammasa and other surrounding villages with daily artillery attacks.
