Junta targets village with artillery attacks: Residents insecure

HURFOM: On April 2nd, 2024, the military junta’s artillery regiment based in Southern Ye Township, Mon State targeted Ka Log Gyi village with indiscriminate artillery attacks even though there had been no active armed clashes in the area.
The junta assumes “Ye Ba Lue” and other revolutionary forces are active near Ka Log Gyi village and in response the 316th Artillery Regiment launched indiscriminate artillery attacks on nearby areas.
“There were seven artillery attacks in the morning. But there was no damage to villagers or houses. As the revolutionary forces are also active (in this area), we’re worrying about possible armed clashes,” said a local villager.
On March 31st, 2024, the joint revolutionary alliances released a statement informing local people that they would increase their military action against the junta in Southern Ye Township.
Soon after the announcement, the military base in Khaw Zar, Southern Ye Township launched an indiscriminate artillery attack forcing local residents to flee their homes and they remained in hiding.
“We’ve heard the sound of artillery very often at the moment. After the announcement (by the revolutionary forces), local people have significantly reduced their movement,” said a villager from Southern Ye Township.
On March 16th, 2024, the 315th Artillery Regiment based in Maw Ka Nin village, Northern Ye Township, Mon State had launched an indiscriminate artillery attack and injured a 48-year-old woman from Kone Paw Yaw Thit village.
