HURFOM: On March 26th, 2024, a father and son from Zar D village, Kan Bauk region, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division were arrested by an unknown armed group.  There has been no trace of them for more than a week, according to sources close to their family.

50-year-old U Ohm Lwin and his son 20-year-old Ko Htet Lin were arrested by five members of an armed forces group at their home.

At about 3 pm on that day, a local People’s Defense Force came to Zar D village to arrest those who gamble in the village. The father and son were arrested at about 7 pm but we don’t know which group is responsible for the arrest,” said a source close to the family.

Family members contacted officials from the PDF, active around Zar D village but they replied they knew nothing about the incident.

As of today, it’s already been eight days. There is no trace of them. Family members are worried about their lives,” said a local source.

Sometimes, the PDF active in Yebyu and Long Lone Townships arrest government staff working for the military junta. Some are released, and some disappear.
