More than ten residents arrested in Yebyu and Ka Lane Aung

HURFOM: On March 29th, 2024, 12 residents from Yebyu and Ka Lane Aung Township, Tenasserim Division were arrested by the military junta, according to local sources.

50-year-old Ko Min Lwin Oo from Mag Gin Ward, Kan Bauk village, Yebyu Township was arrested at his home.

Seven men and four women from Kyauk Shut village, Mi Kyaung Hlaung Yaw Thit village and Ward #2 of Ka Lane Aung Township were also arrested at their homes.

They first arrested Ko Min Lwin Oo from Mag Gin Ward. Then, two couples from Ka Lane Aung Town, five men, including the Administrator, and two women from Kyauk Shut village were arrested. We do not know the reason for the arrests yet,” said a Yebyu resident.

Ko Kyaw Thu Htwe’s couple who live in Mi Kyuang Hlaung Yaw Thit were arrested and released last year. Now they have been arrested again.

Ko Min Lwin Oo is a driver for a company. We don’t know why he was arrested,” said a source close to his family.

Ko Min Lwin Oo is being detained at the Mawrawaddy Navy Command and 11 others are at the Ka Lane Aung Police Station.

At the end of February, 2024, U Ko Nine, a driver with a Thai Company, was arrested and detained by the Mawrawaddy Navy Command and he was transferred to the Yebyu Township Prison, according to the source close to his family.
