Villager arrested by military regiment found dead

HURFOM: On December 28th , 2023, a military regiment entered Lay Toon Khan village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division and arrested some villagers. One of them was found dead on a pomelo plantation near Yet Thane village on January 7th, 2024.
“Ko Hla Tun Win suffered from a stroke and he had a mental illness. Those who were arrested with him were released. But he did not return home at the same time, he simply disappeared,” said a Lay Toon Kan villager.
The dead body did not have a gunshot wound and no one knows the cause of death.
“The body had significantly decayed when we found it. It looks like he died four days ago,” said one of his relatives.
The military junta terrorized residents in Long Lone Township beginning on December 27th , 2023 to January 6th , 2024, by burning down 30 houses and arresting villagers.
