HURFOM: On September 28th, 2025, the ward administrator and the hundred-household leader of Myo Ma (1) Ward, Lamine Town, Ye Township, Mon State were shot and killed by revolutionary forces.

According to local sources, immediately following the incident, the army tightened its security at the village roads and began arresting young men and extorting money from them.

On September 29th, the day when the body of the administrator was cremated, the junta’s army was stopping and checking riders on motorbikes. If there was no license, they arrested the motorists and seized the motorbikes. They detained them in the military trucks and they drove the motorbikes into their 106th battalion. Now, they are demanding money for the bikes. Some had to pay 500,000 MMK while others had to pay even one million MMK,” said a Maw Ka Nin villager.

Those arrested are from Lamine Town and Maw Ka Nin and Thaung Pyin villages and they have been detained at the 106th Light Infantry Battalion based in Maw Ka Nin village. They have not been allowed to meet with their family members.

The army has been tightening security around Lamine Town and have resorted to all forms of extortion.  There are cases of young men threatened with arrest and detention for having a lighter in their hand.  To avoid arrest/detention they were forced to pay 50,000 MMK.

It’s better for young men not to go outside in Lamine. Now, the army has already arrested about 20 young men. Their main purpose is to extort money,” said one resident.
