Man killed and woman injured in gambling raid

HURFOM: On April 30th, 2025, the military and police raided a gambling event organized by Nai Ah Byin, the leader of the Mon Peace and Defense Front, in Kyar Inn Gone village, which is near the Industrial Zone in Mawlamyine, Mon State.

Local sources say a drug deal was taking place at the event. There were shootings during the raid, and a 40-year-old man Ko Tun was killed and a woman was injured.

The soldiers and the police were shooting guns during the gambling raid. Ko Tun, who was a gambler, was shot and killed. A woman was also injured,” said a source who knows the matter.

The military also arrested Nai Ah Byin, the gambling organizer, and his family members at their home in Kyone One village.

Despite arrest by the military, local sources say the gambling event was operating with the permission from the Southeast Command.
