HURFOM: Since early January, 2025, the military junta has been launching constant and frequent aerial and artillery attacks targeting Kyike Hto and Bilin Townships, in Mon State and Hpa-An Township, in Karen State.  The attacks have forced more than 20,000 residents from over 50 villages to flee their homes.

After they lost the Mell Pa Lee strategic military base to the joint resistance forces, the junta has constantly launched both aerial and artillery attacks. Some of the displaced villagers have taken shelter in camps for the displaced but most of them are hiding in the forests, mountains, monasteries and at relatives’ houses,” said a local source.

The source continued that 20,000 displaced villagers are urgently in need of food, clothing and medicine.

The Thaton District KNU has provided some support to the displaced villagers but it isn’t enough. If the displacement becomes prolonged, there will be shortage of food,” said the source.

On February 15th, 2025, the junta launched air assaults on Kaw Hell village, Hpa-An Township that injured five villagers and destroyed nine houses.

On February 9th, 2025, the junta also launched air attacks on Ta Gay Long village, Bilin Township and destroyed a monastery and 17 houses.
