Junta’s artillery attack injures woman and destroys house in Kyike Hto

HURFOM: At 1 pm on January 10th, 2025, the Thaton-based 44th military command launched an artillery attack targeting Hnat Pyaw Taw village, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State. There were no armed clashes in the area. According to local sources, the attack injured a local woman and destroyed a house.
“Here, the military launches artillery attacks every day. The artillery shell dropped on U Aung Soe’s house yesterday. His wife was injured and his house was destroyed by the attack,” said a Hnat Pyaw Taw resident.
Two artillery shells also exploded in Tee Nyar O Ward, Hnat Pyaw Taw village and 50-year-old Naw Aye sustained injury to her chin. Her house was burnt down by the attack and her gold and cash of 6.5 million MMK were lost in the ensuing fire.
Hnat Pyaw Taw village is under the control of the Thaton District Karen National Union.
Since the last week of December, 2024, the junta has targeted Bilin and Kyike Hto Townships with artillery attacks resulting casualties of innocent civilians.
