HURFOM: On October 10th, 2024, the military regiment began a multi-day operation in Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division.  By   October 16, the regiment had killed three villagers. Then, two other villagers were killed on October 21st, 2024.

The regiment also arrested 25-year-old Yebyu resident Ko Min Ko Ko, 30-year-old Ko Aung Nine, 25-year-old Ka Dat Ngae resident Ko Lar Chay, a Pane Nell Taw resident and four Nyin Maw residents – eight in total.

Among them Ko Min Ko Ko and an unknown resident were killed by the regiment in Nyin Maw village.

Ko Min Ko Ko was arrested on October 16th. The doctor said he died more than 24 hours earlier so he might have been killed some time on October 19th. He was blindfolded with a black cloth and had bruises on his face. There was a cut wound on his neck. We can’t identify another dead body as the face was totally destroyed,” said a resident.

Remaining villagers are being detained at the Long Lone Police Station and they have been denied any meetings with family members.

A Nyin Maw resident was released on October 20th but the remaining are still detained at the Long Lone Police Station. They weren’t allowed to meet their family members,” continued the resident.

Local people reported to HURFOM that cases of forceful disappearance have been on the rise in other villages.

Some villagers from Kywel Tike Maw village are missing. The regiment arrests villages and then kills them in the plantation or forests. We need to search nearby forests and plantations where the regiment has been operating. We aren’t sure if missing villagers are killed or in detention,” said a local source.
