Junta’s artillery attack injures father and daughter in Kyike Hto

HURFOM: On June 12th, 2024, the junta’s targeted Pane Nell Gone village, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State with artillery attacks that injured a father and daughter, according to the Thaton District Karen National Union.

The 310thn artillery regiment based in Thane Za Yat Town, Kyike Hto Township launched four artillery attacks on the village even though there was no active armed clash. The artillery shells exploded near residents’ houses, injuring 64-year-old U Than Oo and his 31-year-old daughter Ma Ye Ye Win.

There is no day without an artillery attack in this area. They’re launching artillery attacks every day. The injured father and daughter recently returned to the village. Some villagers had already fled the village and some were digging bomb shelters,” said a Pane Nell Gone resident.

In the morning of June 12th, 2024, the junta also launched six artillery attacks on Sit Kwin and Ah Kine villages and damaged three houses.

When their bases are attacked by the resistance forces, in response, they intentionally target residential villages with artillery attacks. The military junta must take responsibility for their abuses,” said Pa Doe Saw Aye Nine, the secretary of the Thaton District Karen National Union.

Due to constant artillery attacks, nearly 3,000 residents from Pane Nell Gone, Sit Kwin, Thone Kwa, Htin Tell and Moke Kha Malt villages have fled their homes.
