Three villagers injured by artillery attack in Thane Za Yat

HURFOM: Since June 2nd, 2024, the military junta has been launching artillery attacks on Thane Za Yat Town and nearby villages, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State.  The attacks injured three villagers including a pregnant woman.

After the 310th artillery regiment and the 207th Light Infantry Battalion based in Thane Za Yat were attacked by resistance forces, the military junta targeted Thone Kwa, War Det Kwin, Sit Kwin, Ah Kine, Mote Kha Malt and Kha Ywelve villages with indiscriminate artillery attacks, both day and night.

The artillery explosions left a 26-year-old pregnant woman Ma Khin Lay Ye with an injury to her left leg.

On June 3rd, 2024, a Catholic nun from Thone Kwa village and a 20-year-old young man from War Det Kwin village sustained injuries.

They have continuously launched artillery attacks as of today (June 5). The villagers are running and hiding in bomb shelters as soon as they hear the sound of an attack. Many have already left the village,” said a resident from Mote Kha Malt village.

The artillery attacks also destroyed three houses in Thone Kwa village and two houses in Sit Kwin village.

The junta’s artillery attack killed a villager and injured another seven in Kyike Hto Township in May, 2024, according to a statement released by the Thaton District Karen National Unity.
