At least ten villagers arrested by the junta lose contact with family members

HURFOM: Since December 27th, 2023, military junta operations in Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division have burnt down houses and arrested numerous villagers.
Some victims were released but at least ten villagers have lost contact with their family members as of today.
“It’s already been nearly nine days since the day they were arrested. As there is no trace of them. Family members are worrying about them,” said a local source.
30-year-old Ko Khin Zaw from Hin Cho Taw village, 20-year-old Ko Shaung Shan, Ko Swun Swun, Ko Lar, Ko Min Min and 31-year-old Ko Nyi Nyi aka Ko Thet Sithu Swe from Tha Pyay Shaung village were arrested on January 3rd and 4rth. On January 8th and 9th, ten local villagers including women from Nyaw Pyin and Htout Net villages were arrested by the junta.
“Yesterday (on January 11), the military regiment left “Myin Kwar” Beach and headed to Kyauk Ne Maw,” said a Long Lone resident.
The junta’s regiment has also burnt down more than 150 houses and killed a resident from Sit Pyell village.
