More than 100 houses burnt down by junta in Nyaw Pyin village, Long Lone Township

HURFOM: On January 8th, 2024, a military regiment entered Nyaw Pyin village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division and burnt down more than 100 houses.
The military regiment burnt down about ten houses belonging to plantation workers in Phoe Phoe Kyoud Beach and then entered Nyaw Pyin village. The regiment arrested ten villagers and burnt down more than 100 houses.
“The houses from western Nyaw Pyin village were burnt down. The regiment arrested ten villagers including women. Their family members haven’t had contact with them,” said a Nyaw Pyin villager.
In March, 2023, the junta also burnt down about 60 houses in Nyaw Pyin village and more than 1,000 villagers had to flee their homes.
“They have to hide in nearby forests and islands. They have no rice to eat and no clothes to wear. They’re really in trouble,” said a social worker.
Then, the regiment went to Out Kyauk Watt village on January 9th and burnt down another four houses.
