More than ten residents arrested within two weeks in Pu Law

HURFOM: Between October 1st to the 10th, 2023, 13 residents from Pu Law Township, Tenasserim Division were arrested by the military junta.

On October 1, 2023, 19-year-old young man who worked at a “prawn farm” in Thel Pone village, Pu Law Township was arrested by six soldiers and some members of a pro-military group known as the “Pu Saw Htee ” group. They came in civilian clothes to arrest him.

On October 2, 2023, U Hoe Lwin from Ward #3, Pa La Town was arrested by the junta.

Four residents were arrested at the check-point nearby Mee Laung Chaung village on October 4 and on October 8, the junta arrested four men from Ward #3 and #4, Pa La Towns.

On October 10, four women from Ward #3 and #4, Pa La Town were arrested at their home.

All arrested residents were brought to the Pa La Town Police Station,” said a local man.

The military junta has tried to control Pa La Town and surrounding villages and launched operations in the area leaving local people worrying about their safety.

In the last week of September, 11 residents from Pa La Town, Pu Law Township were arrested by the junta and only two of them were released. The remaining victims were detained at the 285th Pu Law based Light Infantry Battalion base.
