HURFOM: On October 9, 2023, the military junta launched operations again in Ya Ngae village, Tha Yet Chaung Township, Dawei District, Tenasserim Division and residents from four villages had to flee from their homes.

About 60 troops stationed in the monastery in Min Dat village, Tha Ye Chaung Township entered Ya Nage villages and burnt down houses.

They shot both heavy and small weapons when entering the village. A villager ran away and encountered them. They arrested him and tied his hands at the back. Then they forced him to go ahead of the military column. When launching military operations, junta’s soldiers often arrest people to use as human shields,” said a resident from Kyauk Kha Mout village.

Due to the military operation, nearly 600 residents from Ya Ngae, Kyauk Kha Mout, Ka Net Thiri and Kywe Min Gone had to flee their homes and eight houses in Ya Ngae village were burnt down.

The military junta operations began on September 29 and continued until October 3, 2023 and then, on October 9, they re-entered the villages.

When they retreated, the villagers returned. Then, they invaded again. They’ve intentionally tortured the villagers. The military has looted houses again and again. We don’t know what they want more,” said a woman from Ya Ngae village.

That regiment entered Wel Yit and Ka Myine villages on October 9 and looted more than 100 houses robbing residents of their gold, money, mobile phones and other valuables, according to local sources.
