HURFOM: The junta’s artillery battalions in Thanbyuzayat and Ye Townships, Mon State have frequently launched artillery attacks at the check-point of the People’s Defense Forces in Wel Kha Mi and Out Hngat Pyaw Taw villages, Thanbyuzayat Township.
The frequent artillery attacks are making owners of the nearby plantations afraid to stay and work at their plantation.
“The Wel Ka Li based artillery battalion have launched attacks on that check-point very frequently. Local people were injured during the September attack. The bomb dropped and exploded in the rubber plantation,” said a local source.
Since last year, plantation owners from Wel Kha Mi and nearby villages will not stay overnight at the plantation. They only come to work and return home at the end of the day, according to a plantation owner from Wel Kha Mi.
“Since the PDF installed their check-point last year, some plantation owners dare not stay and work at their plantation. Those who are working in the plantation are worried about the potential danger,” said the plantation owner.
The plantation owners are also worried that attacks and armed clashes will escalate in the coming harvest/dry season.
After the attempted coup, many family cars, express buses, trucks and motorcycles have been attacked on Ye – Thanbyuzayat Highway Road and there have been many injuries and loss of life amongst innocent civilians.
