HURFOM: Since the second week of September, 2023, the military junta has engaged in armed clashes with the People’s Defense Forces in Pu Law Township, Tenasserim Division.
The military junta has arrested villagers and burnt down houses.
As of today, more than 30 houses were burnt down in Pu Law Township and 2,600 villagers from Ma Daung and Pyin Phyu villages in the Latt Ku tract, and Pi Tat village located in the Toe tract fled their homes for safety.
“As soon as the armed clash broke out, the military started to arrest villagers. Those villages are the big ones so they’ve needed more help. Their most pressing need is for food,” said a social worker who has helped internally displaced persons (IDP).
The villagers told HURFOM the military junta shot and killed five villagers and arrested more than 200 persons
