Civilian vehicle attacked on Myawaddy – Kaw Ka Rate Road: Four injured

HURFOM: On August 20, 2023, a civilian vehicle was attacked by an artillery weapon near “Daw Na Thit Sar” Restaurant on Myawaddy – Kaw Ka Rate Road, Kaw Ka Rate Township, Karen State.
Four passengers were injured, according to a local rescue team.
“The artillery shell exploded just beside the car. Four people were injured but with minor injuries. We don’t know which group launched the attack. We’ve heard the sound of gunfire in the morning,” said a member of the local rescue team.
The vehicle had 15 passengers in total. The injured victims were sent to Kaw Ka Rate General Hospital.
The Karen National Liberation Army, People’s Defense Force, the military junta and the Karen Border Guard Force are the armed groups active on the Myawaddy – Kaw Ka Rate Road.
